Drones The Land Management Bureau (LMB), in cooperation with the Foundation for Economic Freedom (FEF), The Asia Foundation, and SkyEye Analytics, Inc. signed the deed of donation for locally-made drones last January 18, 2017 at the Director’s Conference Room. This is to recognize the unwavering support of the Bureau to the Technology for Property Rights project exploring the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in land surveying and mapping in the Philippines.

LMB Acting Director Atty. Emelyne V. Talabis and Mr. Jaime Faustino, Program Director of The Asia Foundation formalized the turnover with the signing of the Deed of Donation, witnessed by Mr. Matthew Cua, CEO of SkyEye Analytics, former LMB Director Atty. Erwin Tiamson, and LMB officials.

Mr. Cua assured that the quality of drones is unique, and everyone must be proud that the ones made in the country is at par with those used abroad for mapping and surveying. The donation includes one (1) multi-rotor mapping drone set, and one (1) fixed-wing catapult launched mapping drone set, with a set of ground control peripherals.

“Today is a culmination of months-long coordination and meetings between LMB and FEF regarding the use of new technology. It has been many months, we have been to many sites like Cebu, showing to us the capabilities of this technology, which is very much needed at present, and I believe that the LMB and the land sector should level up on this aspect.” Atty. Talabis remarked in her message of thanks, citing DENR Administrative Order (DAO) 2007-29, Sec. 14, the “Utilization of New Methods and Technology”, encouraging the Bureau, the Land Management Service (LMS) and practitioners to capitalize on readily-available technologies and to “develop a national system to expedite projection, verification and approval of surveys, which are consistent with the state-of-the-art technologies, processes and procedures”.

“Technology is going to be continuously updated in the future such as the possibility of our country’s satellite in space. We can dare to dream, and we must continuously adapt as the time changes.” she added.
