IMPROVING LAMS — PHILIPPINES INFORMATION SECURITY

The Land Management Bureau (LMB) through Trends.Net Inc., conducted an Information Technology Security and Data Privacy training for its ICT personnel including the Regional LAMS System Administrators held last February 19-23, 2018 at Oazis Hotel in Butuan City. The training aims to capacitate its ICT personnel of LMB as well as the Regional LAMS System Administrators with knowledge and skill to prevent and counter cyber-attacks. It is the first security awareness training for the Regional LAMS System Administrators. Two (2) IT security expert from Trends.Net, Inc. facilitated the training and help the participants acquire the exposure needed to be familiar with the security measures, preventions and resolutions once faced with the risks. Also, salient features of the Philippines Data Privacy Act were discussed during the training.

Engr. Warlito G. Quirimit, Head of LAMS National Coordinating Desk and Information and Communication Technology Section of the Land Management Bureau, representing LMB Director, Atty. Emelyne V. Talabis, spearheaded the training. In his opening remarks, he stressed that the LAMS Regional System Administrators play a vital role in protecting and securing our land information in the Regional and Field Offices. He also reiterated to all LAMS Regional System Administrators how important are the data and information stored in the LAMS database, so proper handling and securing of it must be considered. Further, he instructed all LAMS Regional System Administrators to come up with an initial security plan and procedures that they can implement immediately in LAMS-Philippines operation in their respective Regions.
