LMD LEADS CONSULTATION-MEETING ON THE EVALUATION OF OUTPUT OF PILOT REGIONS AND NCR ON FAMP

The Land Management Bureau (LMB), spearheaded by the Land Management Division (LMD), organized a Consultation-Meeting with the Pilot Regions; Region II (Cagayan Valley), Region V (Albay and Catanduanes), Region VII (Cebu and Siquijor), and the National Capital Region (NCR) concerning the Evaluation of their output on the Foreshore Area Master Plan (FAMP) last March 8-9, 2017 at Hive Hotel and Convention Place, Quezon City.

The meeting was attended by the Chiefs of each Regional Offices’ Licenses, Patents and Deeds Division (LPDD), one (1) Regional FAMU Focal Person, and two (2) Representatives per Pilot Province. Engr. Henry P. Pacis, OIC-Assistant Director in his Opening Remarks emphasized the importance of the plan because it will serve as a tool in managing the foreshore areas. He also pointed out that the best way to maximize the plan is to put it where it can be best seen and appreciated, it should not be kept to ourselves but should be shared with our partners.

Engr. Rolando R. Pablo, Chief, LMD presented the Rationale and Overview of the meeting which included discussion and evaluation of the outputs submitted by each Region, ideally containing the foreshore use and management policies per province, that will eventually become the guide of the other Regions for their Provincial Foreshore Development and Management Plan, with 29 Pilot Provinces for 2017.

Certain challenges were identified and addressed per Region by Ms. Dina Magnaye, Resource Person, which included comments and recommendation to drop commercial use and shifting the focus on ecotourism, to conceptualize a project proposal for the benefit of Indigenous Peoples (IPs), and to properly identify which strategies and activities are to be led by the DENR.
