This series of consultations was brought about by the instruction of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod B. Ibrahim to LMS Director Eshan Karl O. Mabang to inform all the LGUs in their Region on the result of the 2015 Cadastral Survey Projects and hear out their comments and sentiments on the matter. During the orientation, the LMB presented the comprehensive and modern method of evaluating the result of the said survey project for the BARMM areas. The same method was also used for other Regions in the entire country. The method includes the overlaying of the cadastral survey on satellite image through reference system transformation and geo-referencing. The MENRE-LMS on the other hand, presented the land areas as a result of Cadastral Survey wherein the said areas are either smaller or larger than the previous claims of the LGUs. Some LGUs have found to have boundary issues with their adjoining LGUs. Further, Assistant Director Verzosa said that the area being used by DBM came from the previous area prior to Cadastral Survey Program. He also encouraged LGUs to express their thoughts and whatever issues raised in the open forum, LMB and LMS will provide proper evaluation and guidance.
The LMB on its part, stated that the political boundary dispute between adjoining municipalities can be settled pursuant to the provisions of Republic Act No. 7160, the Local Government Code of 1991. However, Director Talabis said, the matter can best be addressed through amicable settlement which is the fastest and the cheapest method to settle issues. She added that the LMB shall always be ready to lend technical assistance to the BARMM regarding the matter.
