LMB celebrates World Ocean Day through a coastal cleanup

The Land Management Bureau (LMB) joins the nation in celebrating our oceans today, with the theme, “Planet Ocean: Tides are Changing.” LMB, partnered with the Environment Management Bureau NCR, Philippine Coast Guard, Conservation and Development Division, Metropolitan Environment Office-North, selected personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Quezon City, along with some Estero Rangers present commenced a coastal cleanup in Tanza Marine Tree Park, Navotas City.

Today’s celebration of World Oceans Day 2023 seeks to underscore the significance of restoring and caring for our oceans. The urgent need to ensure the sustainable management of our coastal and marine ecosystems must be taken seriously and this collaborative cleanup drive is an attempt to make a difference.

Altogether, the 154 cleanup drive participants collected 450 sacks of trash, mainly non-biodegradable wastes. Some were picked up from the surface, some were floating on the waters of the area, and some were dug up from the sand. LMB Director Talabis expressed her joy in this participation and said that this small act of saving the ocean is also an effort to save our lives.
