Land Management Bureau (LMB) Convenes Three-Day Land Sector Conference in Bohol

The Land Management Bureau (LMB) organized a three-day Land Sector Conference from September 13 to 15, 2023, in Panglao, Bohol. The conference was spearheaded by the Undersecretary for Legal and Administration Ernesto Adobo Jr., and attended by the Regional Executive Directors (REDs) and Assistant Regional Directors for Technical Services (ARD-TS). The primary goal of this gathering was to foster an exchange of ideas, innovations, and best practices, and to address pertinent issues and concerns within the land sector.

Among the crucial objectives for the conference were the revisitation of the land management approach and the presentation of the land sector’s strategic directions. Furthermore, participants were briefed on the latest updates regarding land sector policies, particularly the “Revised Guidelines on the Processing of Residential Free Patents,” and the “Guidelines on the Reconstitution, Re vocation, and Reissuance of Lost or Destroyed Unregistered Patents”. A key focus of the discussions centered around addressing issues and concerns related to the implementation of the Land Administration and Management System: Philippines (LAMS PH), with a strong emphasis on soliciting recommendations for operational enhancements.

One overarching theme that resonated throughout the conference was the importance of reevaluating land management approaches and strategies. The collective goal is to ensure that land is utilized optimally and sustainably while being resilient to the impacts of climate change. The conference emphasized that land should serve a broader purpose than merely disposition and that its use must align with long-term environmental sustainability and societal well-being. This event marks a significant step forward in shaping the future of land management in the Philippines and facilitating a more responsible and equitable approach to land use.
