The DENR joined the nation in celebrating the 34th National Statistics Month, under the theme “Accelerating Progress: Promoting Data and Statistics for a Healthy Philippines.” This year’s theme highlights the crucial role that data and statistics play in improving health outcomes. It focuses on the Philippines’ commitment to addressing healthcare system challenges and promoting a healthier population as a means to accelerate the nation’s socioeconomic development through the utilization of high-quality health and health-related statistics.

The Land Management Bureau (LMB), in collaboration with the SDRMD-KISS, organized and conducted an exciting online Urban Gardening contest from October 9 to 11, 2023.

The contest, with the tagline “Grow Green, Reap a Healthy Lifestyle,” was designed to encourage DENR employees to practice urban gardening as a sustainable approach to cultivate plants and fresh produce, even in urban environments where agricultural land is limited. It promoted the idea that every individual can contribute to a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.

The awarding took place during the flag-raising ceremony at the DENR Central Office last October 27, 2023. The winners and their prizes are as follows:

  • First Place: Ms. Jezreelyn L. Milar, who received Php 5,000 worth of gift certificates;
  • Second Place: Ms. Agnes G. Radam, who received Php 3,000 worth of gift certificates; and
  • Third Place: Ms. Robelyn Ceballo, who received Php 1,000 worth of gift certificates.

As a token of appreciation for their participation, all winners also received calamansi seedlings, for them to continue promoting the practice of urban gardening and fostering a greener and healthier environment.
