Land Management Bureau Holds Workshop on Social Media Strategy and Content Creation

The Land Management Bureau (LMB) hosted a three-day workshop on social media strategy development and content creation from August 27 to 29, 2024. The event aimed to enhance the bureau’s outreach efforts through effective use of social media platforms.

Assistant Director Romeo Verzosa emphasized the importance of reassessing current practices and adopting a more strategic approach to online communication. “We need to take a step back and assess our current practices to develop a more strategic approach to social media management,” Verzosa said. “This workshop is not just about learning the technical aspects; it’s about rethinking how we communicate with the public.”

Center for Land Administration and Management Philippines Manager Melanie Malto also emphasized the need of having comprehensive social media strategies tailored to the needs and objectives of the LMB, for which the workshop targeted to produce as its output.

With representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Strategic Communications and Information Service (DENR-SCIS) and the DENR National Capital Region’s Regional Strategic Communications and Initiatives Group (DENR NCR-RSCIG), best practices in social media management of their respective offices were shared.

DENR-SCIS Chief Jewel Labita and DENR NCR-RSCIS Head Arizol Abad share the best social media practices of their respective offices.

The workshop featured key discussions led by Cristine Ongson, President of Online Philippines. Ongson covered essential topics such as content pillars for social media, mapping activities and campaigns into a social media calendar, and guidelines for crafting a tagline that reflects the bureau’s vision, mission, and values. Participants also received hands-on training on Canva, a popular graphic design platform. At the end of the workshop, attendees were tasked with developing a social media calendar for the LMB, complete with mock-up publication materials for future activities.

This initiative represents a crucial advancement in enhancing LMB’s communication strategies, aimed at fostering stronger public engagement. Administrative Support Staff Head and Land Management Division Chief Alex Pascua underscored this by emphasizing the role of social media in strengthening its feedback channels, promoting more responsive and transparent communication with the community.
