DENR grants a parcel of land to DOH-RITM
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Acting Secretary Jim O. Sampulna signs the deed of conveyance to a parcel of land in Alabang, Muntinlupa City to be turned over to the Department of Health (DOH) – Research of Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).
The ceremonial signing of the deed of conveyance was under President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s Proclamation No. 1276 dated January 6, 2022, which states that the 9,077-square meter parcel of patrimonial land is within the Alabang Stock Farm, Muntinlupa City, will be for RITM building site purposes.
Secretary Sampulna said he hopes the additional land property will provide RITM with more space for the facility, and further advance their research work.
RITM Director Celia C. Carlos expressed her gratitude to the DENR for facilitating the preparation of the deed of conveyance.
“I wish to acknowledge the big help provided by Director Emelyne V. Talabis and her staff who guided and supported us in all stages of this journey towards RITM acquisition of additional lots,” said Carlos.
Director Talabis with the Assistant Director Romeo Verzosa also pledged to continue support in the advocacy, especially in this time of health crisis.
“We hope that by giving this additional lot for your building site will help you to fulfill more of your mandate in serving our Filipino people in our fight against Covid-19,” said Talabis.
RITM has been responding to outbreaks of infectious diseases for the last 20 years, including the first severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV) outbreak in 2003.
