GEODETIC SURVEYS DIVISION CONDUCTED BASIC AUTOCAD AND MANIFOLD TRAINING

The Land Management Bureau (LMB) through the Geodetic Surveys Division (GSD), conducted a three-day Learning Session in Basic AutoCAD and Manifold last July 25-27, 2016 at the GSD Operation Center (OPCEN). It was attended by the officials and personnel of the Division, with the training design crafted for the benefit of both technical and non-technical employees.

Engr. Bienvenido F. Cruz, Chief of GSD and Engr. Jesse Junco of the Geodetic and Project Control Section (GPCS) were the Lecturers. They tackled the basics of AutoCAD, a computer-aided design software and Manifold, a geographic information system (GIS) software. The outline of the course included a review on mapping, and exploring the basic commands and features of AutoCAD and Manifold. Exercises on lines, polygon and circles, and plotting of parcels were administered to test the effectiveness of the training on the participants.

Mr. Marco Matias, from the Network Infrastructure and Management Division of the Knowledge and Information System Services (KISS) DENR Central Office, discussed the existing IT infrastructure network and the possibility of interconnecting Field Offices with the Department.

Engr. Henry P. Pacis, LMB OIC-Assistant Director, gave inspirational talk and acknowledged the efforts of the Division in its personnel development specifically on the technical expertise and the importance of the training in future projects.

Engr. Cruz plans to have a second batch of trainees and an advance course on digital mapping technology which may be held before the end of the year.
