Geodetic Surveys Division’s Knowledge Management and Future Direction Workshop
In line with the government aspiration to deliver efficient and effective public services, the Geodetic Surveys Division (GSD) under the Land Management Bureau (LMB) recently conducted a technical learning workshop with the theme “Geodetic Surveys Division’s Knowledge Management and Future Direction.”
The workshop was held over three (3) days at Estancia Resort Hotel in Tagaytay. The workshop’s participants were from the GSD and the Land Administration Management System – National Coordinating Desk (LAMS-NCD).
The said workshop aimed to equip all the personnel of the GSD and LAMS-NCD with comprehensive knowledge about the division’s functions, processes, and modern technology and equipments. It also informed the participants regarding the upcoming activities and projects of the bureau such as foreshore line delimitation, online transactions and drone lidar surveying.
Setting the tone for the workshop, Engr. Bienvenido F. Cruz, Chief, Geodetic Surveys Division, commenced the workshop with his opening remarks, inspirational message, rationale and outlining the department’s and the bureau’s future directions. He mentioned that due to the recent technological advancement, the use of Global Navigation Satellite System – Real Time Kinematic (GNSS-RTK) is becoming prevalent in the conduct of land survey. Soon, the drone technology will become common state of the art equipment among the land surveyors. Following his address, each Section Chief shared their own motivational messages: Engr. Beato L. Cefre, Jr. Assistant Division Chief and Chief, Standard Technical Service Section (STSS), Engr. Ariel F. Reyes, Chief, Parcel Information and Management Section (PIMS) and Head, LAMS-NCD, Engr. Jesse L. Junco, Chief, Control and Projection Section (CPS) and Engr. Genalyn V. Libo-on, Chief, Evaluation and Statistics Section (ESS).
In the course of the workshop, the following topics were discussed: Survey and Mapping 101; DENR Strategic Thrusts and Programs; Design Thinking and Organizational Transformation; GSD Accomplishment as of April 2024; GSD Way Forward and Future Direction; and the functions and processes of PIMS, ESS, STSS, CPS and LAMS-NCD.
