GIZ and LMB Launches the Unified Map: A Digital Solution on Land Data Sharing
February 9, 2023, Quezon City – The Land Management Bureau with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) launches the Unified Map under the Responsible Land Governance in Mindanao (RLGM) Project on February 9, 2023 at B Hotel, Quezon City.
One of the outputs of the RLGM Project is to strengthen the exchange of land data and information between national agencies and local governments. Through the development of the Unified Map tool, data users from different government agencies can share their spatial data with other offices over online connectivity and remote server. The data sharing is bounded by a Memorandum of Agreement to be signed by the participating agencies.
Engr. Oliver Macapinlac, the GIZ Consultant for Unified Map, presented the functionalities of the tool. A brief hands-on activity was done by the pilot regions to demonstrate the operation of the Unified Map.
LMB Director Atty. Emelyne Talabis has committed the Bureau to have Regions 10, 11, and CARAGA adopt and implement the Unified Map. She further remarked that this is an opportune time to gauge the willingness and readiness of the agencies on online data and information sharing. She said that LMB plans on connecting the Unified Map to the DENR One Control Map, which will be discussed with the DENR Central Office. Finally, she thanked everyone who participated in the event and contributed to the implementation of the RLGM project.
The event was also participated by the following DENR officials, LMB Assistant Director Engr. Romeo Verzosa, FMB Assistant Director For. Edna Nuestro, FASPS Assistant Director Ma. Sabrina Cruz, DENR Region 10 Regional Executive Director Henry Adornado, DENR Region 11 Regional Executive Director Bagani Fidel Evasco, and Statistics and Data Resource Management Division OIC-Chief Roja Guia Bati-on; and GIZ Principal Advisor Ms. Erlinda Dolatre with some RLGM Technical Advisors; and regional government agencies as DAR, DHSUD, NEDA, and NCIP, LGU Rosario, Agusan del Sur, and City Assessor’s Office of Davao City.
