LMB CELEBRATES NATIONAL WOMEN’S MONTH
The event bearing the theme, “We Make Change Work for Women” was attended by the bureau’s employees and the representatives of this year’s GAD beneficiaries, Central Signal Village, Taguig City.
The GAD Kick-Off was graced by the opening statement of Assistant Director Engr. Romeo P. Versoza who recounted the Magna Carta for Women. Since the participation of women in society has grown over the years, today’s women are encouraged to pitch in their ideas and allow their voices to be heard in the labor force and society as a whole. The Assistant Director stated that only a number of women are currently in the geodetic workforce and he welcomes and encourages their participation to achieve women representation in the field.
The Chairperson for Gender and Development, Ms. Maria Gina F. Pascua, narrated the importance of opportunities for women. There is a great need to continuously provide women with programs that support them in increasing access and control over resources. They must be given confidence in managing their resources such as land and security in land tenure.
The celebration came to an end with closing remarks from Acting Director Atty. Emelyne V. Talabis who empowered women to be a catalyst of change. In an age where women are given more opportunities and representation in society, they must strive to make a difference through actively participating in several fields and empowering fellow women. She also emphasized the significance of information dissemination regarding Presidential Proclamation 172 to the representatives of Central Signal Village, Taguig City; remarked that there is “power in knowledge,” and encouraged all employees of the Bureau to continue learning and striving to be a catalyst of change.
