LMB Collaborates with GIZPh for the ROLMIN Project

Davao City, February 15, 2023 – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), through the Land Management Bureau (LMB), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) seek to enter into a partnership for the Rule of Law in Mindanao (ROLMIN) Project. It began with an Inception Workshop on February 15-16, 2023 at the Ritz Hotel Garden Oases, Davao City.

ROLMIN aims to reduce the potential violence and conflict arising from land use and land distribution issues in the Mt. Apo area of Region 11. GIZ Principal Adviser Christina Rentzmann said that “there is magic in new beginnings.” She also encouraged everyone to have an enthusiastic outlook of the Project.

LMB Director Atty. Emelyne Talabis also signified her support for the Project, given LMB’s ongoing partnership with GIZ in the Responsible Land Governance in Mindanao (RLGM) project.

Other key participants of the workshop include DENR Regional XI Executive Director Bagani Fidel Evasco, DENR XI Assistant Regional Executive Director for Special Concerns Maribel Alicer, LMB Legal Division Chief Atty. Marlou Alutaya, DENR PENRO-Digos City Alberto Bandiola, and representatives of other concerned agencies such as the Department of Justice (DOJ), Commission on Human Rights (CHR), National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).  The workshop provided an avenue to clarify and improve the objectives of the Project and to identify the roles of the agencies involved.
