LMB CONDUCTS TRAINING-WORKSHOP ON VALIDATION OF DIGITAL CADASTRAL DATABASE (DCDB) OF LAMS PHILIPPINES

In line with the massive data capture nationwide and the intention to create a cleansed digital cadastral database that will serve as a basis in approving all future land transactions nationwide, the LAMS National Coordinating Desk headed by Engr. Warlito G. Quirimit organized a two-day training-workshop on validation of digital cadastral database (DCDB) of LAMS Philippines last June 8-9, 2016 at Brentwood Suites, Quezon City.

The event was participated by all Chiefs, Surveys and Mapping Division, LAMS Coordinators, System Administrators and one (1) assigned Geodetic Engineer on DCDB of the 16 DENR Regional Offices. Participants from Geodetic Surveys Division and Central Office (KISS) were also invited to observe and scrutinize the enhancements made with the system. Acting Director Atty. Emelyne V. Talabis and OIC Director Engr. Henry Pacis were also present to oversee the event.

The DCDB is a database of land records containing textual, scanned documents, maps, and spatial data created and stored within LAMS Philippines. It provides the basic and authoritative layers of cadastre information with all parcels and political boundary information covering a municipality, city, or any political unit. It also covers and provides land transaction information and the recording of any property rights and information. The DCDB also creates different thematic layers on land uses, land tenure status, and other themes used for better land management, planning and decision making.

With the combined workforce of a technical and computer skilled personnel, the group were able to come up with a uniform policy that will set the direction towards the operation of the DCDB Module and the LAMS Philippines as a whole. Participants were also trained on how to use the DCDB Validation tool on the cleansing and correcting activity of all land records inputted within the (DCDB) of LAMS Philippines.

Moreover, issues and concerns encountered during the DCDB validation in each Region were discussed and addressed. The Regional LAMS Coordinators presented their targets and accomplishments for the year. A total of 48 cities/municipalities were targeted for CY 2016 and as of now Regions are already in the process of completing 1 city/municipality as part of their target for the 1st and 2nd quarter of the year.

Also, the draft policy on Costs and Fees on land transactions and Digital Land Data Sharing and Security under LAMS Philippines were presented to the group by Ms. Vanessa Anette Valdez and Ms. Dianna Joiz Abucay of LAMS-NCD, respectively.
