LMB employees attend advance course in Taiwan, garnering recognition
A group of four Land Management Bureau (LMB) employees recently completed advanced courses held at the International Center for Land Policy Studies and Training (ICLPST) in Taoyuan City, Taiwan on May 25 to July 16, 2023.
Lovella Galindon participated in the 153rd Regular Session for Land Policy for Rural Development. Meanwhile, Jennifer Borbon, Engr. Jerbee Baggay, and Engr. Jewel Templonuevo took part in the 154th Regular Session for Land Valuation and Taxation. Their selection was based on their previous participation in online courses during the 145th, 146th, and 150th Regular Sessions in 2021 and 2022.
The program exposed the participants to a diverse range of topics, including economics, taxation policies, land valuation, rural economy and development, local land relations, and sustainable development through effective local governance. The group also embarked on field trips and cultural visits to prominent tax administration and land administration agencies in Taiwan.
Furthermore, participants were encouraged to share insights from their home country, addressing contemporary issues and proposing solutions for achieving net-zero emissions and sustainable development in response to climate change.
Engr. Templonuevo and Ms. Galindon received accolades for their outstanding country papers on land valuation and taxation, and land policy for rural development, respectively.
Representatives from various countries were also present during the courses. Delegations from Argentina, Belize, Chile, Eswatini, Fiji, Guatemala, Indonesia, Jordan, Mexico, Mongolia, Paraguay, Poland, St. Christopher & Nevis, St. Lucia, and Thailand all participated, fostering a rich international exchange of ideas and experiences.
The courses were facilitated by esteemed lecturers from renowned institutions such as the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, National Chengchi University, Worcester State University, Jones, Roach & Caringella, Inc., Chinese Culture University, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, Fredrich Naumann Foundation, Feng Chia University, University of Georgia, Kadaster International, and the National Chung Hsing University.
The successful completion of these advanced courses highlights their dedication to professional growth and their commitment to bringing valuable knowledge and expertise back to the Philippines.
