LMB once again honored in the 2024 FOI Awards

The Land Management Bureau (LMB) has once again been recognized as a leading government agency in promoting transparency and accountability. For the fifth time since 2019, the LMB has been awarded as a Top Requested Agency in the eFOI Portal for 2024.

The event brings together government offices in the executive branch, including government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), state universities and colleges (SUCs), and local water districts (LWDs), to honor a shared commitment to ensure that the right to information is upheld and accessible to every Filipino.

The award was conferred by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), which was held live at the Hilton Manila Hotel on November 25, 2024. LMB Director Atty. Emelyne Talabis and Records and Knowledge Management Chief Engr. Victor Balde received the award on behalf of the agency.

Ronadale Zapata.

The LMB was recognized for its exemplary performance in handling over 1,000 FOI requests and achieving a closure rate of at least 90%.

This year’s FOI Awards theme, “Local Voices, National Impact: Bridging and Empowering Communities through FOI Localization,” highlights the importance of transparency at the local level, especially for those living in the farthest areas of the country.

The government’s Freedom of Information (FOI) program is based on Executive Order No. 2 of 2016. This Order requires government agencies to recognize people’s right to information and to do full public disclosure and transparency for public service.

With this award, LMB commits to upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, and citizen participation.
