PUBLIC FORUM ON REPUBLIC ACT NO. 11573 SET TO RAISE AWARENESS ON THE NEW LAW

The Land Management Bureau, in partnership with the Foundation for Economic Freedom, conducted a public forum on 2 March 2022 to promote the recently enacted Republic Act No. 11573 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, DENR DAO 2021-38. The law resumes acceptance of agricultural free patent applications and removes the deadline for filing it. It also shortens the required period of occupancy for both administrative and judicial titling to 20 years.

Director Emelyne Talabis opened the forum citing the relevance of the law on the priority directions of LMB. Atty. Erwin Tiamson of the FEF presented the salient features of this new law, and Engr. Henry Pacis of the LMB presented the IRR. Both also acted as panelists for the Q&A session, together with officials Atty. Marlou Alutaya, Engr. Bienvenido Cruz and Engr. Victor Balde of LMB. The closing remarks was delivered by FEF President Calixto Chikiamco.

The forum was opened via Zoom and participated by national and local government agencies, civil society, academe, the private sector, and individuals. It was also streamed live on the official LMB Facebook page and FEF.
